CONGRATULATIONS TO THE
2025 CENTRAL ARKANSAS
PRESTIGIOUS YOUNG POETS FINALISTS

First Place Winner
All These Little Things
by Taliyah Griffin, 5th Grade

All these little things do so little,
Yet so much.
The river runs
As fast as a cheetah across this sunny valley.
The wind wails
Loud as a baby up at midnight.
The clouds prance
Across the sky, graceful as a ballerina.
The sun shines
As bright as a child's smile.
The feeling of happiness sits upon me
So close - even though it cannot be touched.
All these little things do so little,
Yet so much.

1st
Second Place Winner
Mold
by Aiden Caple, 5th Grade

When we are no longer hungry
When we are fulfilled
The strawberries in the corner
Hiding from the judgmental eyes
Become something new
They blossom and sprout
They grow and bloom
And they become beautiful again
The white snow across the surface
Covers the fruit
And whispers,
"It's okay to change."

2nd
Third Place Winner
The Wild Roar
by Addilyn Garrett, 5th Grade

A library is not as quiet and calm as you think.
Quite the opposite.
Books kept there are their own zoo,
Roaring and braying,
Growling in people's minds
Telling stories of fright and pain,
Joy and happiness
A zoo that will always be.
